RELATED INITIATIVES

BATT4EU is a Co-programmed Partnership established under Horizon Europe – the Framework Programme for Research and Innovation of the European Union- that aims to achieve a competitive and sustainable European industrial value-chain for e-mobility and stationary applications.

It is a contractual public-private Partnership gathering – on the public side – the European Commission; and – on the private side – BEPA, which regroups all the battery stakeholders from the European Research community.

BATTERY 2030+ brings together the most important stakeholders in the field of battery research and development to work on concrete actions that support the implementation of the European Green Deal, the UN Sustainable Development Goals, as well as the European Action plan on Batteries and the European SET-plan.

ANGeLiC will develop Gen5 lithium-sulfur batteries for heavy-duty mobility, enhancing safety, performance, and recyclability. Using advanced deposition techniques, it will protect lithium anodes, achieve higher energy density, and extend cycle life. Scalable coatings and pilot demonstrations will enable compatibility with current infrastructure, supporting EU sustainability and Green Deal goals.

HighMag develops sustainable, low-cost rechargeable magnesium batteries using sulphur conversion and metal insertion cathodes with a powder-based anode. It enhances performance through electrocatalysts, protective coatings, and interphase stabilization. The project applies SSbD principles, designs for recycling, ensures manufacturability, and delivers business guidelines, advancing Mg-based Gen5 technology from TRL2 to TRL4 for mobility applications.
