TALISSMAN AT THE BATTERY 2030+ ANNUAL CONFERENCE IN TURIN

Our colleagues from POLITO disseminated TALISSMAN at the Battery 2030+ Annual Conference, held on 7–8 May 2026 at Politecnico di Torino in Turin, Italy. The event brought together key stakeholders from the European battery research community and featured keynote presentations, industry sessions, poster presentations and networking opportunities focused on the future of battery innovation.

During the conference, POLITO contributed to the poster session with the presentation “Integrating life cycle thinking into the sustainable design of emerging battery technologies: insights from the TALISSMAN project”. The poster highlighted how TALISSMAN is applying prospective Life Cycle Assessment to support the sustainable design of next-generation lithium-sulphur batteries from the earliest stages of development.

The work presented by POLITO addressed key methodological challenges in assessing emerging Li-S battery technologies, including limited primary data availability, uncertainty in upscaling assumptions and the need for robust life cycle inventory data. The poster also underlined the importance of identifying potential environmental hotspots and trade-offs to guide material selection, cell design and process development.

By taking part in the Battery 2030+ Annual Conference, TALISSMAN strengthened its visibility within the European battery research ecosystem and contributed to ongoing discussions on safe, high-performance and sustainable battery systems aligned with EU sustainability ambitions.titive European battery ecosystem is underway and collaboration will be key to accelerating it.
